Similar to many older men my age, I started this fat loss journey through changing my eating habits by following a strict diet. I also began working out, thinking that it would help me lose my belly. However, again, much like most older men... I was confused and discouraged at the fact that the fat loss never happened. The entire time while I was starving myself with a restrictive diet, I actually put on a few pounds.

Third, most workouts were all over an hour long. With family commitments, it was very difficult to find 2 hours everyday to workout... Not to mention the 30 minute drive back and forth from the gym. With work and all, just finding a second to sit down becomes difficult. No longer being kids and responsibility free, devoting hours every day can seem impossible.
The bottomline is that when your workout sessions are too long, you’ll just end up not doing them. In addition your body can't sustain long periods of training, this can lead to injuries and unnecessary stress to your declining hormones.
The most effective exercises for men over 40 are compound movements with free weights.
This method of exercise is highly effective because it activates 2-3 of your largest muscle groups at once with safe body movement patterns. This multi-muscle activation is the key to supporting your male hormones.
On the other hand, traditional isolation machines are very awkward to your natural body position. Not only that, isolation movements only can target one small muscle group at a time - which you find in most workouts.
